EmBRICK® is a modular, open-source I/O system for the realization of various control/measurement and control systems. It consists of one master and several EA-modules, we call them bricks. The design as an open-frame finished components combines the advantages of a PLC (emBRICK ® optimally available immediately, arbitrarily scalable, no development costs) with those of embedded systems (low price, integrated signal conditioning, direct sensor/actuator connection, low inherent power requirement, freely expandable).
The mounting is done without configuration by plugging together the bricks and fixation on a patch board (plug-disk) or a DIN rail housing. A steadily growing number of industry-specific bricks allows the direct adaptation of the usual sensors and actuators without consuming additional components.
As a control master is every µ-Controller and of course platforms such as Raspberry Pi or beaglebone black via SPI or GPIOs can be connected. Other Master such as PCs or NUCs can be via a coupler via LAN, WLAN, CAN, serial interfaces or customer-specific interfaces with emBRICK ® communicate with each other.

The programming is done in any way, e.g. with C, C++, IEC 61131, LabVIEW or even model is based with different UML tools. For this purpose, a variety of open drivers and starter kits with source code available.

This module includes 8 inputs for KTY temperature sensors.
Typically, the modules with a temperature sensor KTY81-210 (2 kOhm at 25 °C). The module has two terminals for each sensor, so that no external wiring is necessary. The available temperature range from -30 to +80 °C.
